SAAF Airmen in RAF Squadrons
Taken on August 23rd at RAF Amendola in Foggia Italy, 24 of their No 178 Squadron colleagues were missing in three days following Churchill’s instruction. This crew was unusual in that Lt Keith Murray (4th right) a South African navigator was the only commissioned crew member, four were English, one was Australian and both pilots were Sergeants.
