The Dreaded Telegram
The small town of Aberdeen in South Africa’s Eastern Cape shared the news delivered to Schalk and Katherilla Pienaar advising their 19-year-old son Schalk, a seconded No 213 Squadron P51 Mustang pilot, was killed on August 4th. One of at least 25 seconded SAAF pilots who served on the Squadron, four lost their lives between August and October. 31
