Lt’s Mills, Mitchell, Stanford, Delport and Seymour were part of small group of seconded SAAF pilots who served on Ferry Control Units. They were based at RAF Allahabad in India, a harsh environment that challenged health and ensured high pilot turnover, but aside from delivering aircraft to operational squadrons, also served on RAF fighter squadrons in India, Burma, and Ceylon. Stanford and Seymour being two of several South Africans who served on No 155 Squadron.
